This Privacy Policy applies to the ZamaCar website and mobile application. It describes how we handle personal information when you use our car marketplace services.
1. Introduction
- ZamaCar (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the ZamaCar website and mobile application (together, the “Service”), a car marketplace for buyers and sellers in Pakistan and surrounding regions.
- This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service. By using the Service, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
- This policy is designed to meet common requirements for app stores (including Google Play) and transparency expectations for users. It does not replace legal advice for your specific situation.
2. Data controller
- The data controller responsible for personal data processed through the Service is the operator of ZamaCar. For privacy-related requests, contact us using the details in Section 13.
3. Information we collect
- 3.1 Account and profile data: name, email address, phone number, city or location you choose to provide, and similar profile fields when you register or update your account.
- 3.2 Authentication data: when you sign in with Google, we receive identifiers and profile information that Google shares with us according to your Google account settings (for example, name and email).
- 3.3 Listing and transaction-related content: vehicle descriptions, prices, photos, and other content you submit when selling or browsing; messages or inquiries you send through the Service where applicable.
- 3.4 Technical and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, approximate region (if inferred), log and diagnostic data, and similar information needed to operate and secure the Service.
- 3.5 Communications: content of messages you send to us (for example, support requests).
4. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you.
- To display listings, enable buying and selling, and facilitate communication between users as intended by the Service.
- To operate, maintain, improve, and personalize the Service and user experience.
- To send service-related notices, security alerts, and (where permitted) marketing communications.
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security issues, and violations of our terms.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our rights.
5. Legal bases (where applicable)
- Depending on your location, we may rely on: performance of a contract (providing the Service you requested); legitimate interests (security, analytics, product improvement), balanced against your rights; consent (where we ask for it, for example for certain communications); and legal obligation.
6. Sharing of information
- Service providers: we use trusted third parties to host data, authenticate users, store files, send notifications, and analyze usage. They process data on our instructions and under appropriate safeguards.
- Google and Firebase: we use Google services (including Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage) operated by Google. Google’s use of data is also described in Google’s policies.
- Other users: information you place in public listings (for example, seller contact details you choose to show) may be visible to other users of the Service.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or security.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties in the conventional sense of “selling” data for money.
7. Data retention
- We retain information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
- You may request deletion of your account subject to legal retention requirements; some information may remain in backups for a limited period.
8. Security
- We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your rights and choices
- Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is consent-based; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
- You can update some information in your account settings. For other requests, contact us using Section 13.
- You may control certain permissions through your device settings (for example, notifications).
10. Children
- The Service is not directed at children under the age where parental consent is required in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from such children. If you believe we have collected information from a child inappropriately, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
11. International transfers
- Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence (including by Google and Firebase infrastructure). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms.
12. Changes to this policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated through the Service or by email where appropriate. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
